Messum's The Studio is open by appointment only for collectors of fine art and sculpture. The Studio is set in the grounds of Lord's Wood, a property with a long history as a haven for artists, writers and sculptors. Situated in the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, it was built in the Arts and Crafts style in 1899 for the eccentric mural painter Mary Sargant-Florence, and subsequently became a summer retreat for members of the Bloomsbury Group. Over the years, guests to the house have included Lytton Strachey, Maynard Keynes, Virginia Woolf, Ralph and Frances Partridge and Dora Carrington.
Today, as the home of David Messum and his family, Lord's Wood is once again the focus of artistic enterprise. Over the years the property's landscaped gardens have been developed and transformed, and throughout the Summer the grounds house an annual exhibition of contemporary sculpture. Open strictly by appointment, the Studio also contains a collection of British Impressionist & Victorian paintings.
Situated on London's foremost Contemporary Art Street, Messum's Fine Art Gallery can provide a stylish venue for exclusive corporate events.
